Private and charter schools alike are forced to compete on an uneven playing field. These schools only receive about 60 percent of the $15,000 per student in-state and local funding available to traditional public schools – meaning they receive about $6,000 less per student to deliver an education.

Unequal funding exacerbates teacher shortages, particularly at the high school level. A level playing field will inject competition into our system and raise the quality of education for every single school – public and private.
